Quizzical Soroptimist Fundraising Success

Wow – the quizzers smashed it again this year! What a great evening.

Following the the success of the online quiz last year, more people attended this year, who had even more fun and raised more  than £600 for the  St Albans & Hertsmere Women’s Refuge  plus charities supported by the Club!

We had 30 Zoom screens making up 10 teams with 4 to 8 people in each team. Being on Zoom enabled teams to include people from as far afield as Yorkshire and the USA – and the technology worked brilliantly again.

The Club’s President Barbara Saunders did an excellent job in the role of MC for the evening so everyone understood what was happening – and the important news of who had won at the end! Barbara’s husband Derek Palmer did another cracking job as our Quizmaster – one of his multiple choice questions is shown here so you get a taste of how it worked. With multiple choice questions, and having time to discuss answers with your team, all the teams got good scores making the evening really enjoyable for everyone. Congratulations must go to to the winners “Debbie’s Dream Team” – they should be on “Eggheads” on the TV they are such good quizzers!

After each round of questions Jane (pictured here) took the teams into Zoom “breakout rooms”, with their team members to debate the questions and answers before coming back to the main “room” for the next round of questions.

Feedback from all the quizzers was really positive, and any comments are being fed into the mix ready for the next one. We do miss having the quiz in person, but have to say this does make for a really fun fundraising event!
